As a native to the South Bay, Chef Kha Lu embodies the modern Californian spirit in his approach to food and hospitality. He brings high-technique and turns it into an approachable and rustic style of cooking that is refined, yet comforting. He is a strong believer in sustainable practices as a way of life and business, not just a tool for marketing. Lu graduated from the Professional Culinary Institute of Campbell and landed at the Plumed Horse in Saratoga. He considers Chef Peter Armellino a huge mentor and starting point for his career as he gained the techniques and knowledge necessary to gain the coveted Michelin star.
Following his passion further, Lu moved to Chicago and worked for the famed Chef Charlie Trotter at his eponymous restaurant which has garnered national recognition—and two Michelin stars—for over a decade. After Charlie Trotter’s, Lu credits his time with Chef Chris Pandel with truly helping him discover the style of cuisine he loves most—by trading in white tablecloths and tasting menus for a more soulful style of cooking. Kha has now made his home at Prime in Santa Clara, where his creative and soulful take on “farm to table” elevates the genre to new levels.

The process of building resiliency in our local food system starts with diversifying supply back into the hands of many small farms and ensuring their continued operations and growth. Understanding this, in 1999 David Evans founded Marin Sun Farms as an extension of his upbringing on his family’s cattle ranch in the Point Reyes National Seashore and has grown the company to be a gateway to market for many small farms raising livestock under the stringent protocol and values the company was founded on.
Today, Marin Sun Farms has grown to be fully vertically integrated from pasture to processing to plate.
We pride ourselves in sourcing dual purpose animals. This means the animal has been raised for more than just one purpose. Our cows live long healthy lives as organic pasture raised dairy cows and at the end of their lives provide organic beef for our community.
Mindful Meats cows live long full lives out on pasture their entire lives. They graze pastures when they are green and during the off season they are supplemented with farm grown silage (fermented grass), alfalfa, and hay. The milking cows are given a snack of mixed grain when they come into the barn for milkings. The milking cows need the extra calories from the mixed grain to lactate as producing milk is very calorie intensive. All of the pastures the cows graze are certified organic. All of the additional supplemental feed is certified organic and DNA tested for GMOs.

We believe that high quality produce starts with the best quality soil in optimal growing locations. Each of our ranches have been carefully selected for soil, climate, and environmental factors that allow us to grow year-round to consistently supply our customers. Our farming operations follow the sun from Salinas, California to Yuma, Arizona. From April to October, our produce is grown on ranches stretching from from Castroville to Soledad in California. During the winter months, we move our farming operations to Yuma, Arizona and the Imperial Valley, California.
Providing you with organically grown fruits and vegetables from the Central Coast of California for over 30 years.
Prompted by a conventional farmer who speculated that strawberries could not be grown organically, founder Dale Coke planted his first strawberries on his home ranch on the Central Coast of California. The plants produced beautifully and a local natural foods store became the first Coke Farm customer.
More crops were planted, more successful harvests brought more satisfied customers, and within a year Coke Farm had expanded to the restaurant trade, growing specialty and baby lettuces for upscale restaurants.
County Line Harvest is a certified organic farm with two locations in California: one in Petaluma, Marin County, and one in Thermal, Riverside County. Our two farms allow us to meet the varied produce demands of our customers year-round. Our crops are chosen based on climate suitability, taste and appearance. We grow lettuces, specialty salad and cooking greens; roots like beets, turnips, and carrots; herbs such as basil, parsley, dill, thyme, and oregano; plus strawberries, tomatoes, peppers and summer squash.
Our name came from the farm’s first location which was on the Sonoma-Marin County line. Since its start in 2000, the farm has expanded to our two current farms that, together, total nearly 100 acres.
County Line Harvest has been certified organic by Marin Organic Certified Agriculture (MOCA) since 2001. County Line Harvest continues its dedication to providing its surrounding communities with fresh and flavorful organically-grown produce.
